Charlie competing x-country at Warwick ODE 1999

BALLARA (CHARLIE) - (RIP)

16 hh Thoroughbred gelding
Sire: Ball of Fire
Dam:

Charlie and Sasha have a very long history together.  Sasha acquired Charlie at 11 years of age, as her first ‘big competition horse’.  Charlie was a machine cross country and although hard to handle at times, Charlie taught Sasha a lot about eventing.

Sasha and Charlie competed together both on the EFA circuit and at QISEA Level.  Charlie could do it all, ranging from being a showhorse to a competitive eventer.  Charlie proved this many times, often being mistaken for a grumpy little broodmare in the hack ring, to turning around and jumping clear showjumping rounds later in the competition!!

Charlie was retired from eventing in 2000 after Sasha completed all 5 disciplines at the QISEA state championships. However, retirement did not agree with Charlie and after many visits from the vet, Sasha was told to continue riding Charlie as he became too bored and miserable being a retired old man. So, the old gentleman found a new career as a schoolmaster for Sasha’s students and was always so careful with the littlies that it was impossible to imagine that this careful gentleman was once a hard-to-handle eventer!!  Charlie looked forward to his weekly rides and being cuddled and kissed by all the children.

Charlie, sadly, has now passed away, having reached the grand old age of 28 years. RIP Charlie, you will never be forgotten. You will always be in our hearts.

Sassy Lady

VON ROSEN SASSY LADY

Sassy is a 15.2hh 4 year old TB mare by Markane with the sweetest nature and super quiet disposition. Sassy proved to be an awesome little mare showing heaps of potential to make a very reliable all-round interschool / pony club horse for a confident teenager or lady rider.

Sassy has to gone to a wonderful new home and we hope to see her competing successfully on the Dressage circuit soon.

Sasha & Bobby dressage at Fig Tree Pocket ODE March 2007

Bobby at Fig Tree Pocket ODE 2007

Bobby at Mt Gravatt ODE 2007

VON ROSEN BOBBY BOO

16.2 hh Thoroughbred gelding
Sire: Maldini (Danehill)
Dam: Wattle

Sasha acquired Bobby at the very end of 2005.  Bobs was very lightly campaigned in 2006 with very good results.

Bobs is curently competing PreNovice eventing and is definitely ready for 1*, Elementary dressage with 9 Official points (consistently scoring 65%+), and is happily jumping 1.10m+ with ease. Bobby is very rarely out of the top 7 placings at events. Bobby is the same at competitions as he is at home.

Bobby has 3 elevated and even elastic paces and shows plenty of scope over a fence. He is just as happy in a dressage arena as he is out on the cross country course. Bobs is a fantastic young horse who has so much more talent to burn. He is extremely easy to shoe, catch, clip, wash, float etc. He is a hassle free horse.

Bobby is full of character, an absolute loveable little gem. He is EFA life registered and microchipped.

SOLD to Emily Chapman of Queensland.

We look forward to seeing Bobs out and about competing with Emily this year.

Sasha and her Dino training at Fig Tree Pocket

HP LANDINO

17.2 hh Holsteiner gelding
Sire: Lander
Dam: Royal Laurent

Sasha acquired "Dino the Dinosaur" in 2005 as a young warmblood who was just too big for his previous 5ft owner.  Dino started his first season in eventing in 2006 and has quickly progressed through the ranks.  In one season Dino went from introductory to pre-novice levels.  Dino was campaigned in 2007 at pre-novice level, with the goal being to reach one star level in 2008.

SOLD to Ashley Howard of Queensland.

We look forward to seeing Dino out and about competing with Ashley this year.

Jester at 15 months of age

VON ROSEN WINTER WYSE

Sire: Kinnordy Wilhelm (Winterkoenig lines)
Dam: Lollitta (Ludendorff)

Jester was purchased in 2006 by Sasha as a very gangly looking colt.  At the tender age of 18 months, Jester was starting to show just how cute he will really be.

Jester is the most relaxed of characters, who takes everything in his stride.  He is expected to mature to over 17hh, and with his kind eye and expressive trot he should be one to be reckoned with in the next few years.

SOLD to a lovely lady in Darwin - we wish her all the best in her equestrian endeavours.

Missy at 4 months of age

VON ROSEN WINTER MINX

Sire: Kinnordy Wilhelm (Winterkoenig lines)
Dam:

Missy was purchased by Sasha as a 4 month old weanling.  Missy is very much a little miss, demanding attention and always pushing her little weight around.  Missy is very flashy with a very impressive big floating trot, ground covering canter and with very flashy "look at me" looks.

Missy will be one to keep your eyes out for in the future, whether it is eventing, dressage or showjumping.

SOLD to Simone Monaghan from Sydney.

Nicky peering out from his stables.

VON ROSEN NICKITUS

16.2 h.h. Thoroughbred gelding
Sire: Snippets
Dam:
Shigeru Magic Lisa
Nick is a beautiful liver chestnut with a very calm disposition and lovely movements. He will make a perfect all-rounder for a pony clubber or QISEA competitor.

SOLD to a lovely local family in Queensland - we look forward to seing Nick out and about with his new owners in 2008.

Sasha & Felix training dressage

HP FELIX

18.2 hh Holsteiner gelding
Felix was a big gentle giant who knew "a little dressage".  Sasha soon discovered that Felix was definitely worth his weight in gold.  Felix taught Sasha how to ride some of the higher level dressage movements such as passage, piaffe, one and two time changes etc.  There was nothing that Felix couldn’t handle.  Even Sasha’s students rode Felix, as he was so gentle. He took everything in his very big stride, even taking Sasha’s father on numerous mountain rides as he was just so reliable and calm natured. Even with a young horse jumping around beside him, Felix never became worried – just continued on his way at his nice steady pace.

Felix went to a new owner in Victoria in mid 2006 – as he deserved all the love and attention he could possible get. He hated being left behind when Sasha took all the eventers off to competition and he would spend the day sulking, even though he always had other equine company with him!

Tommy showjumping at Brookfield Showgrounds 2001

HIGH AND MIGHTY

Tommy was purchased for Sasha’s younger sister Lara. However, when Lara stopped riding, Sasha was given the chance to ride on this very lovely and sweet thoroughbred.  Tommy was an ideal interschool horse – he was gorgeous and won most of his hack classes as well as being very bold cross county and super careful showjumping.  Tommy was a liver chestnut with very good conformation and a stunning dainty head with very kind intelligent eyes.

Bundy competing x-country at Mt Gravatt ODE 2001

BOHEMO INSTANT SPELL

Bundy, who stood at just over 15.2hh, was a very cute Quarter horse. He was quite flashy with 4 white socks and a big blaze.  Bundy, who was purchased at the tender age of 3, was a  very cheeky little horse with loads of character.  However, Bundy never really made it as a eventer as he was just too slow and preferred leisurely hacks out rather than hard work.

Bundy found a new home with a family who wanted a lovely little pleasure pony who was more happy to take long leisurely strolls and munch on grass, than to gallop around showjumping.

Subby training at Brookfield Showgrounds 1997

SUBLEMATE

Sub was the most gentlest of thoroughbreds.  He was acquired as a successful but retired race horse.  Sub was retrained by Sasha to be a successful eventer, there was nothing too big for Sub to jump. However, with a chronic roaring problem Sub was retired from eventing.

Sub was a quirky horse – not being terribly fond of males (he allowed any female to catch and handle him – though would run off if a male even approached his paddock gate).  Sub spends his life now as a pleasure horse, enjoying all the attention his new owner is giving him.

Sasha & Merry showjumping

ROSENEATH MERRY

Merry was given to Sasha to train and compete for a year.  Merry was a very pretty and dainty young lady. After a little bit of work, Merry has turned into a very nice, well mannered young lady.  With Sasha she was one of the only horses to jump round Maryborough ODE clear and under time in both the cross country and showjumping phases in her class.  Merry is now ridden by her owner's son and enjoys competing competitively in all disciplines in the QISEA circuit and eventing and showjumping in the EFA circuit.

Blacky and Caroline

von Rosen logo

CAROLINE

Caroline was Sasha’s first pony – she was every little girl's dream. She was a flea bitten grey and ever so pretty.  Caroline taught Sasha so much as a young rider, often acting as Sasha’s babysitter and keeping Sasha entertained for hours being groomed, washed etc.  Caroline was one of those ponies who was 100% trustworthy, she could be ridden with just a halter and lead rope and would never do anything unexpected.  Caroline was enjoyed by both Sasha and Lara as she was passed down the line of children.  Caroline was more like a pet, she loved swimming in the dam, opening her paddock gate to come and stand expectantly at the front door for attention, would come when she was called from anywhere on the 12 acre property and would whinny repetitively if something was wrong.   Caroline was the best pony a mother could want for her child.

BLACKJACK

Blacky was originally Sasha’s father's horse, however as Sasha slowly outgrew Caroline, Blacky was eventually given to Sasha as her next horse. Blacky was a stunning intelligent thoroughbred.  Although Blacky’s talent was never fully realised as his life was cut short due to an injury, he was a mate to everyone.  He would spend all day with you just hanging out. Whilst Sasha and Lara were building cubby houses in the paddock, Blacky would be right there in the middle of the action. Blacky and Caroline (Sasha's first pony) were inseparable, literally spending all day together, never being more then 3-4 metres apart.
